NEWS Chinese Embassy’s Education Department hosts reception for students from impoverished mountainous areas of Yunnan, China

On the afternoon of 4 December, 2018, a reception for students from impoverished mountainous areas of Yunnan Province, China was held at the Education Department of the Chinese Embassy. Counselor Xia Jianhui of the Education Department delivered a speech. About 30 teachers and students from Dali City and Mile City in Yunnan attended. Attendees on the day included representatives from Anglo China Education Foundation, St Michael's Catholic Grammar School, Downe House School, Park House School, British Council and London Mayor's Office.


Mrs Jing Jiang Aarons, Founder and Co-chairman of the Anglo China Education Foundation, delivered a speech to encourage those children. Assistant Headmistress from Downe House School also spoke at the reception.


The trip by the students from the impoverished mountainous areas of Yunnan Province was fully funded by Anglo China Education Foundation. The 10 students of the delegation were from poor families in the mountainous areas of Yunnan. After arriving in the UK on 27 November 2018, they had since visited Eton College, St. Michael’s Catholic Grammar schools, Downe House School, Park House School, Oxford University and so on. They have enjoyed their exchange with British teachers and students.
